Developed for the Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor
MEDRailway 2026 is an edition of our SURCO rail programme built for the people who make the corridor work, from Spain to Hungary. You learn the corridor from the organisations that manage and operate it.

The first session is led by the Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor: European rail freight policy, international path allocation (C-OSS) and disruption management.
Voices from the whole chain
The terminal (TAG) and railway undertakings (RAG) perspectives, plus speakers from ADIF, VIIA, the Port de Barcelona and Hutchison Ports BEST, among others.
A corridor-wide network
Designed for professionals across Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary, with a networking dinner in Barcelona sponsored by MED RFC.
The programme at a glance
Five afternoons inside the corridor
- Mon: EU rail freight policy, C-OSS path allocation, disruption management, TAG and RAG perspectives
- Tue: freight demand, modal split, terminal types, equipment, train handling and digitalisation
- Wed: rail vs road costs, competitiveness, capacity bottlenecks and EU/national incentive schemes
- Thu: port–rail integration, Mediterranean ports as gateways, best practices and a Port of Barcelona case study
- Fri: Green Deal, Fit for 55, external costs and CO₂ emissions calculation
Two days on the ground
- Day 1: Port of Barcelona, then across the Pyrenees to the Perpignan Saint-Charles Container Terminal, the Lorry Rail terminal in Le Boulou and the Figueres–Perpignan line at Le Perthus. Networking dinner in Barcelona.
- Day 2: Port of Barcelona rail container terminal (Hutchison Ports BEST), rail planning and shunting at the port, a maritime visit, and the diploma ceremony.
